Centre of Isotopic and Geochemical Research (Igc Sb Ras): Current State of Micro- And Macroanalysis

Abstract: Centre of Isotopic and Geochemical Research based on the Analytical Department of Vinogradov Institute of Geochemistry SB RAS (Irkutsk) performs a wide range of analytical studies to solve mineralogical and petrological, geochemical, prospecting, ecological, paleoclimatic and applied problems. The studies are supported by the modern equipment for electron microprobe, X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, atomic emission and mass spectrometric (including isotope) analyses, as well as the necessary internationa… Show more

“…The mineralogy of the carbonate rocks and albitites in the Podlysan Massif has been documented based on a rock sample obtained from drill hole number 5 (Figure 3). Rocks and minerals were analysed at the Isotope Geo-chemical Research Centre, Vinogradov Institute of Geochemistry, Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences [62]. The mineral composition was determined in situ in a polished section by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectrometry (SEM EDS), and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA).…”

“…A set of standard samples including albite for Na, pyrope garnet for Al, potassium feldspar for K, diopside for Ca, forsterite for Mg, Mn-garnet for Mn, Ti-ilmenite for Ti, and Cr-spinel for Cr were used for calibration. Sample preparation, SEM, and EPMA studies were carried out at the Center of Isotope and Geochemical Research of Vinogradov Institute of Geochemistry SB RAS [63].…”

“…The measurement accuracy was controlled by annual testing and adjustment of the instrument by the manufacturer (LUMEX, St. Petersburg). Chemical analysis of water samples was performed using the equipment of the certified Center of Collective Use for Isotope-Geochemical Research at the Institute of Geochemistry, SB RAS (Irkutsk, Russia) (Skuzovatov et al, 2022). The accuracy of the results was confirmed by the analysis of reference samples of the Baikal water composition.…”
