The environmental certification acts as a sustainable practice for firms to improve their competitive advantage and its motivation has been widely discussed. However, existing researches ignore the important market driving force of green public procurement (GPP) as a policy tool. To fill this gap, this study, focusing on manufacturing firms in China and three typical environmental certifications, explores the relationship between GPP market pressure and firm's environmental certification practice based on institutional theory. Additionally, from a strategic perspective of green human resource management, this study unveils the influence mechanism of top management support in this relationship by using upper echelons theory. According to the empirical results, we find that GPP market pressure is positively associated with environmental certification practice, and top management support partially mediates this relationship. This study provides new insights into the explanation of firm's environmental certification practice, and provides practical implications for firm managers and government administrator.

This study examines the impact of directors' famine experience on the corporate donation decision. We use a unique data set of 16,082 firm-year observations from Chinese listed firms to show that directors who experienced the Great Chinese Famine during 1959-1961 make more corporate donations, a result that supports the path dependency theory related to the effect of prior experiences on subsequent behaviors. The relationship between a director's famine experiences and corporate charitable contributions is robust across different types of ownership and industry. We further show that these directors appear to consume fewer perquisites (i.e., lower agency costs), improve social responsibility, mitigate earnings management, and enhance internal control quality.

<p>El sentido público de las universidades hace que la sociedad presione por obtener niveles de representatividad en sus gobiernos corporativos. Un buen gobierno corporativo precisa aumentar los niveles de información y las universidades latinoamericanas tienen un bajo nivel de divulgación de la información. En la investigación se propone y verifican los factores que afectan los niveles de divulgación voluntaria de la información que emiten las universidades latinoamericanas a los diferentes grupos de interés. Se estudiaron 219 universidades de cinco países latinoamericanos, reconocidas dentro de las 500 mejores instituciones de la Región, se utilizó un modelo de regresión lineal múltiple para testear las proposiciones. Los resultados son potentes y significativos con implicaciones teóricas, empíricas y de política pública.</p>
