Cephalofacial Morphological Characteristics of Albanian Kosova Population

Abstract: Although the human race must be regarded as a unit intellectually and physically, from the anthropologists' viewpoint the particular set of bones most often measured for purposes of racial classification are those of the head. The aim of the present work was to determine some relevant cephalofacial parameters, particularly in relation to sex and to study the distribution of basic head and face types of a Kosova Albanian population. The study sample comprised 754 subjects of both sex (561 male and 193 female) a… Show more

“…Due to its validity and practicality and has a great reputation in the mandatory investigation of the craniofacial skeleton (McIntyre & Mossey, 2003 The type of head and face depend on many factors such as ethnicity, genetic influence, traditions, nutrition, certain pathology conditions, environment and climate (Rexhepi & Meka, 2008). For Verdun et al (1958) the hyperdolicocephal is usually a sign of the crossing of two dolichocephalic breeds, while hiperbrachcephal indicates the crossing of two breeds brachycephalic, mesocephalic being a sign of the crossing of two breeds of cephalic index opposites.…”

“…The results shown on Table VII, show that II can be concluded that most of them have brachiocephalic head, low hypsicephalic, and tapeinocephalic head (Rexhepi, 2008), as well with intracranial capacity 1379.2 cc (min=1020 cc; max=1756 cc). Multiple Linear Regression Analyzes shows that system of cephalofacial indexes, even if very poorly, significantly can predict the size of the intracranial capacity.…”
