Abstract: Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is a noninvasive monitor used regularly in pediatric cardiac surgeries to monitor regional cerebral oxygenation (rScO2). A significant intraoperative cerebral desaturation (>20% from baseline) has been reported with poor neurological outcomes.
