Cesium Removal from Tank Waste Simulants Using Crystalline Silicotitanate at 12% and 100% TSCR Bed Heights

Abstract: Executive SummaryThe Direct Feed Low-Activity Waste flowsheet provides for the early production of immobilized lowactivity waste (LAW) by feeding waste directly from Hanford tank farms to the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) for vitrification. Prior to the transfer of feed to the WTP LAW Vitrification Facility, tank waste supernatant will be pretreated by the Tank Side Cesium Removal (TSCR) system to meet the WTP LAW waste acceptance criteria (<3.18E-5 Ci 137 Cs/mole of Na). This pre… Show more

“…To obtain a sense of exchange efficiency, two-phase ratios (volume of solution per mass of CST) were selected: 200 and 50. The phase ratio of 200 matched phase ratios previously tested [44][45][46] ; it provided a sense of element loading when CST mass is limiting. The phase ratio of 50 was selected to provide a sense of exchange when available mass of CST was not nearly so limiting.…”
