Challenges of gated myocardial perfusion SPECT processing

Abstract: The paper provides an in-depth look at gated myocardial perfusion single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) data processing. Attention paid to several unmentioned subjects of the quantitative analysis of gated myocardial perfusion SPECT data. The article considers several options in the construction process of the ellipsoid coordinate system of the left ventricle (LV). Mathematical representation of polar maps is given. Formulas of the regional parameters calculation are proposed. Issues of phase anal… Show more

“…An application of the described algorithm can be useful for different image processing fields, such as movement detection and its correction, tracing movement trajectory, constructing contours on an image, analyzing images and so on. Given approach is of a particular interest for processing radionuclide research data [Ovsyannikov, Kotina and Shirokolobov, 2013;Ploskikh and Kotina, 2021;Kotina, Ploskikh and Shirokolobov, 2022], for obtaining visual as well as quantitative information when diagnostic images are analyzed.…”

“…Currently, a large number of various modality images are used in medical diagnostics, which require processing and analysis: segmentation [Shen et al, 2023], detection and classification [Salemi et al, 2022], calculation of diagnostically significant parameters [Ploskikh and Kotina, 2021]. Deep learning approaches are widely used for these purposes [Liu et al, 2021].…”
