Abstract:A 37-year-old man suffered a penetrating left orbital injury with rupture of the inferior rectus muscle and avulsion of the optic nerve. The orbit was explored and the inferior rectus muscle stump was identified 25 mm from the limbus. Despite this, the muscle was successfully reattached and the patient achieved satisfactory postoperative alignment.
