Changes in physical conditions of a coarse textured soil by addition of organic wastes

Abstract: Effects of composted tobacco waste, chicken manure and bio-humus applied during a period of three years on a coarse textured soil (Typic Xerofluvent) at Agriculture Faculty's Research and Practise Farmyard of Ege University located on Menemen plain (Izmir, Turkey) on soil physical properties were studied. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design on 16 plots with four replications. Each plot size was 5x3 m 2. Composted tobacco waste (CTW) from cigarette industry and chicken manure (CM) and bio-h… Show more

“…Banana peel is an organic waste that highly rich in nutrient especially K, that could support the microbial growth in fermentation phase [3]. Using banana peel as fermentation liquid or waste in composting is considered as good as it stimulates soil microbial growth and activity with the subsequent mineralization of plant nutrients [4]. As replacement of brown sugar in common fermentation liquid, uses of candy which serves as food source for the microbes.…”

“…The appropriate agricultural use of organic wastes can become advantageous for the humankind, because it allows recycling, lessening the pollution problems, as well as the improvement of the physical conditions, chemistries and biotic of the soils (Brito et al, 2007). Benefits of organic wastes and compost amendments to soil have been reported by many researchers (Roig et al, 1987;Doran and Parkin, 1994;Darwish et al, 1995;Drinkwater et al, 1995;Stamatiadis et al, 1999;Wang et al, 2003;Kızılkaya, 2005Kızılkaya, , 2008Delibacak et al, 2009;Candemir and Gülser, 2010;Gülser and Candemir, 2012;Cercioğlu et al, 2014). Nevertheless, it is fundamental to control and limit the environmental impact of these practices since they can result in organic or inorganic contamination of natural resources.…”

“…Soil organic matters are generally one of the most important criteria of soil quality. Soil organic matter has an influence on the processes occurring in the soil and many soil properties (Doran and Parkin, 1994;Gregorich et al, 1994;Lal and Kimble, 1997;Gülser and Candemir, 2012;Cercioğlu et al, 2014). However, intensive soil processing and taking product is lead to decrease organic matter in soil.…”
