Demand for materials with excellent mechanical properties and lightweight increase in a recent year especially for highperformance applications. Aluminum reinforced Al 2 O 3 composite (AMC) provide this superior property. Therefore in this research, aluminum alloy 6061 was used as a matrix and Al 2 O 3 with 10 and 15 Vf-% as a reinforced for making metal matrix composites while magnesium as a wetting agent was used various from 8, 10 to 15 wt-% to improve the wettability between Al and Al 2 O 3 since aluminum was poor wetting with ceramic. Al alloy 6061 was melted at 800 o C and magnesium was added into Al molten, then Al 2 O 3 particles were poured into the melt. The process using double stirrer with a rotational speed of 1000 rpm for 3 minutes to distribute all Al 2 O 3 particles in the Al melt and all the gas bubble formed was removed by flushing an Argon for 2 minutes. The composites produced then characterized both mechanical properties and microstructural analysis. The focus of this research is to investigate the effect of Al 2 O 3 and Mg on the mechanical properties of composites. The result showed that the optimum tensile strength was 202 MPa which was obtained in composite with 10% Vf-% Al 2 O 3 and 10 wt-% Mg. Moreover, hardness and wear resistant to composite increased with the addition of Al 2 O 3 and Mg content due to good wetting in composites with 10 wt-% Mg. The double blade stirrer has contributed to the random distribution of Al 2 O 3 particles in the molten Al. The microstructure observations showed that the composites yield pores and impaired the mechanical properties of composites.

The work reviewed here an overview of the current investigates about the machining of Aluminum metal matrix composite (MMC) which is major concern now a day’s industry. There is an increase demand of the development of advanced metals for many industrial applications, to complete such demands metal matrix composites are the right solution. Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) have higher strength to weight ratio and their properties may be tailored as per the industrial requirements. The main purpose of machining is to produce a product of desired shape and size with specific quality and surface finish by removing a material in the shape of chips and it is affected by cutting parameters like feed rate and depth of cut also the selection of cutting tool plays a major role. However, MMC’s are highly abrasive and tools can wear rapidly, machining of these materials attracted researchers and industrial community a lot. So various tooling systems like Carbides, either plain or coated for tool of milling, drilling, and non-traditional methods of machining are also use to achieve the high durability, dimensional tolerances, functional requirements and surface quality of such materials after machining of MMCs. After machining analysis of the experimental data collected from various combination of analysis, methods are to be uses as ANN artificial neural network, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and TELBO techniques and Multilayer perceptron model will be constructed. On completion of the test, the techniques are to be used in authenticate the result found and to expect the behavior of the system.

ARTICLES YOU MAY BE INTERESTED INAbstract. ADC12 reinforced nano SiC has been successfully produced by stir casting process. Nano SiC was added into ADC12 alloy varied from 0.05 to 0.3 vf-% while Al-5Ti-1B and Sr were kept constant at 0.04 and 0.02 wt-% respectively to all composites. Mg was added 10 wt% to improve reinforce's wettability. The addition of Al-5Ti-1B to the alloy was as grain refiner while Sr was added to modify Mg2Si. All composites were characterized both microstructures analysis and mechanical properties include tensile strength, hardness, wear rate, impact strength, and porosity. The highest properties of composites was obtained at 0.3 vf-% nano SiC addition with UTS of 155.4 MPa, hardness of 46.16 HRB, impact strength of 0.22 J/mm 2 , and wear rate of 1.71 x 10 -5 mm 3 /m. Tensile strength and hardness increased as grain size and porosities decreased. The highest wear resistance was investigated on the composition with the highest hardness. Impact strength decreased due to increasing volume fraction of nano-SiC. The phases present in microsturucture was dominantly Mg2Si which also affected mechanical properties of these composites.
