Characteristics of Fatty Acid Metabolism in Lung Adenocarcinoma to Guide Clinical Treatment

Abstract: BackgroundLung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) has a very high morbidity and mortality rate, and its pathogenesis and treatment are still in the exploratory stage. Fatty acid metabolism plays a significant role in tumorigenesis, progression, and immune regulation. However, the gene expression of fatty acid metabolism in patients with LUAD and its relationship with prognosis remain unclear.MethodsWe collected 309 fatty acid metabolism-related genes, established a LUAD risk model based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) us… Show more

“…These genes also have the potential to act as signals and receptors that can influence cancer development and progression. The principle of immunotherapy is to inhibit cancer development by activating the natural immune molecular components of the tumour microenvironment 29 . Eosinophils indirectly generate type 1 T cell responses through the GM-CSF-IRF5 signalling axis, which has anti-tumour properties 30 .…”

“…According to the previous studies, 15 , 20 we obtained 309 FAMGs to construct this analysis (Appendix S1 ). The differentially expressed fatty acid metabolism‐related genes (DEFAMGs) between normal and HNSCC samples were identified according to the criteria of |logFC| >0.585 and false discovery rate <0.05.…”

“…According to the previous studies, 15,20 All subjects were divided into high-and low-risk groups according to the median risk scores after each sample's risk score was calculated with the formula. To confirm the value of the above risk score model to predict patient prognosis, the log-rank test and Kaplan-Meier survival curves were used to compare the overall survival (OS) of the patients in both groups.…”

“…Biomedical research has led to demands for tools and strategies so that information can be obtained from genome-wide expression data. Several studies have used statistical methods to analyze clinical data to find differences and correlations between LUAD and characteristic genes (22)(23)(24). Furthermore, classification systems are built through multiple machine learning and computational procedures (25).…”
