Characteristics of knowledge translation theories, models and frameworks for health technology reassessment: expert perspectives through a qualitative exploration

Abstract: Background Health Technology Reassessment (HTR) is a process that systematically assesses technologies that are currently used in the health care system. The process results in four outputs: increase use or decrease use, no change, or de-adoption of a technology. Implementation of these outputs remains a challenge. The Knowledge Translation (KT) field enables to transfer/translate knowledge into practice. KT could help with implementation of HTR outputs. This study sought to identify which char… Show more

“…Efficient translation of research evidence-based results into clinical practice is a complex process and among the greatest challenges in medicine due to significant barriers that contrast the changing of established clinical practices. New methods and multiple conceptual frameworks has been developed and must be applied to bridge the disconnect between research findings and clinical practice, for example, knowledge translation, implementation and dissemination science, research utilization, and distribution transfer (22)(23)(24)(25). All are with the aim of promoting processes of behavior change in the healthcare through interventions focusing on patient safety and quality of care.…”
