“…While the admissions of unsuitable patients to the emergency department prevent the provision of services to real patients and the preparedness of the emergency service on the one hand, on the other hand, it decreases the quality of service provision and increases costs. (2,10,17) In the study, it was found that a signi cant part of the applications to the PESs were non-emergency patients (81%) and there were no patients in the "very urgent" category. Although the results coincide with the ndings of the studies in the literature; the high rate of non-emergency patients is higher than other studies, and there are no patients with very urgent cases.…”

“…In our study, admissions from emergency to hospitalization are found lower than the studies conducted in other centres in our country. [13,14] Since we have limited bed capacity but intense examination and treatment patients, this situation can be explained with offering daily hospitalization to some of the patients which are planned to hospitalize for a short time at emergency observation unit. When epidemiological data in paediatric emergency submissions are looked into, it can be seen that nearly half of the patients are infants.…”

“…Another striking point in our study is that more than half of the applications are concentrated outside working hours in accordance with the literature. [13,14,18,19] Reasons, such as working parents, disruptions in the appointment system and fast operation in the emergency room, may be influential in this result. However, in our study, one of the most important factors that constitute overtime patient density is service provided in two emergency green area two clinics located close to the emergency to reduce the patient density of the emergency service.…”

“…In addition, "bone fractures, dislocations, sprains, head trauma, falls, traffic accidents, burns, asthma attacks, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe complications of congenital diseases and/or metabolic diseases, poisoning, insect bites, snake and scorpion stings" are common and lifethreatening causes of admission to PES [4]. Recognizing the epidemiological characteristics of patients admitted to the emergency department, planning services according to the person and time, and profiling the disease profile of emergency patients will increase the quality of health care and the satisfaction of patients and health professionals and reduce economic losses [5].…”
