Characteristics of Students’ Mathematical Understanding in Solving Multiple Representation Task based on Solo Taxonomy

Abstract: This articles discusses the characteristics of students' mathematical understanding in solving multiple representation tasks. Qualitative explorative methods were used to clarify the characteristics of mathematical understanding. Data were obtained by assigning multiple representation tasks to and interviewing 25 students. It is concluded that there are two characteristics of mathematical understanding in solving multiple representation tasks: flexibility and compartmentalization. Flexible understanding consis… Show more

“…Regarding abstract mathematical properties, representation is needed especially when people need access to mathematical ideas that can only be done through the representation of ideas themselves 2 / 14 http://www.iejme.com (Killpatrick, Swafford, & Findell, 2001). The use of various forms of mathematical representation is important to be the focus of attention in mathematics learning which can be derived from aspects of the process and evaluation of mathematics learning (Afriyani, Sa'dijah, Subanji, & Muksar, 2018).…”

“…In the solution of objectives, it is supposed using of a system and structural method which is implemented in approach to the analysis of the separate work as a complete art system in which rather complete image of the world embodying a certain esthetic concept of reality is created [Leyderman 2002: 17 -143]. are revealed Works in which features of the subject organization of the lyrical work had an impact on the concept of the conducted research [Ginzburg 1997;Korman 2006;Broytman 2008;Sailaukyzy et al, 2018;Afriyani et al, 2018]. The method of the analysis of R. Gatash poems is based on the established in the theory of literature fundamental differences between conditional and poetic, mythological figurativeness and poetics of a "simple" ["not stylistic"] word [Broytman 2001].…”

“…As a collectivist culture, Indonesian Muslims are likely to frame an issue in line with their Muslim group references rather than following the mainstream media frames itself. This study seeks to identify the media frame from different Muslim group websites with a variety of ideological backgrounds (Afriyani et al, 2018;Kodekova et al, 2018). This step is important because these group references will influence the framing process within the members as well as their official websites about images of Australia.…”
