Abstract:Research focusing on recognizing and identi fying tsunami deposits in the geological record was first published more than 30 years ago (Atwater, 1987; Minoura et al., 1987) . In the following years, there was a steady number of studies reporting on deposits left behind by recent, historical and paleotsunamis, until the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami (2004 IOT) , which resulted in a drastic increase in tsunamirelat ed publications (e.g., ChaguéGoff et al., 2017) .
