Characterization and current–voltage characteristics of solar cells based on the composite of synthesized Sb2S3 powder with small band gap and natural dye

Abstract: Recently, we have reported the synthesis and optical and electronic properties of Sb 2 S 3 nanowires with small band gap. In order to prove that the synthesized nanowires can be considered as a candidate material for solar cells and in order to obtain I-V characteristics, two very simple cells based on synthesized Sb 2 S 3 nanowires/natural dye composite were fabricated. Exponential growth of the I-V curves after illumination revealed that the cells could work as electricity generators. A better current respon… Show more

“…Independently of the performance of the tested solar cells under 1 sun, finding low‐cost cell technology combined with understanding of utilization of low light and setting of standard conditions (1–10 W m −2 , indoors) should be some future directions concerning the research in this area . Our opinion is backed up by experiments we carried out with synthesized Sb 2 S 3 solar cells operating at low light intensity, as well as the results presented in this article.…”

“…The absorption spectra of the synthesized amorphous Sb 2 S 3 powder cover the spectra of hypericin, indicating better absorption of photons of higher energies by the dye than by the synthesized Sb 2 S 3 powder. Acting as sensitizer together with Sb 2 S 3 , hypericin increases the number of absorbed photons which is improvement for the fabrication of the cell .…”

“…As a semiconductor with a low bandgap and a high absorption coefficient, antimony(III) sulfide (Sb2S3) has become a promising absorption material for photovoltaic applications [2][3][4]. Furthermore, the material is also suitable for various electronic and optoelectronic applications, such as energy storage [5] or optical data storage [6].…”
