“…Exogenous application of a VvLTP4-JA complex to grapevine plantlets also induced a high level of tolerance against B. cinerea (Girault et al, 2008). The recombinant wheat LTP 3F1 exhibited broad-spectrum antifungal activity against Alternaria sp., Rhizoctonia solani, Curvularia lunata, Bipolaris oryzae, Cylindrocladium scoparium, B. cinerea, and Sarocladium oryzae (Kirubakaran et al, 2008). LTPs were also reported to be involved in long-distance signaling during systemically acquired resistance in Arabidopsis and in cell wall loosening during pollen-pistil interactions (Nieuwland et al, 2005), and the anti-phytopathogenic activity of LTPs probably involves membrane permeabilization of target cells (Regente et al, 2005).…”

“…The fungus Gibberella fujikuroi was kindly provided by Dr. B. Fraga, Natural Products and Agrobiology Institute, CSIC, Canary Islands, Spain. The agar dilution technique was used to evaluate the effect of the prenylated compounds on the growth of P. cinnamomi 41,42 , G. fujikuroi 43 and B. cinerea 44,45 . Fungicidal activity assays of these compounds were performed in microcultures by growing the fungi in sterile Petri dishes (35 mm) at a final volume of 2 mL medium containing different compound concentrations.…”

“…The nsLTPs have been found in many different land plants, including Arabidopsis, rice, wheat, pine, peach and corn Boutrot et al, 2008;Jang et al, 2008;Kirubakaran et al, 2008;Kovaleva et al, 2009). The protein family is very large, with more than 150 members in wheat, 49 in Arabidopsis and 52 in rice (Boutrot et al, 2008).…”
