Characterization of abiotic variables of the ichthyological spring grounds of the Buyo Dam Lake - Ivory Coast

Abstract

Spawning grounds are aquatic habitats used by fish for reproduction. However, the spawning grounds of Lake Buyo in the Taï national Park are exposed to the effects of climate change and hydroelectric development, especially with the impoundment of the Soubré dam downstream of the Buyo dam. The general objective of this study is therefore to make a spatial assessment of the abiotic variables of the ichthyological spawning grounds of the Buyo dam lake. Sampling took place from June 2018 to May 2019 on 11 spawning grounds using a multi-parameter, weighted rope and Secchi disk.
