Abstract:Empty fruit bunches (EFBs) are an agro-industrial residue discarded in the environment when the fresh palm fruits are removed for oil extraction. EFBs are abundant in palm-oil-producing countries and cause environmental problems. Besides their content in lignocellulosic, EFBs also contain amounts of residual lipids from the separation process. Because the palm fruit has two main types of oil from the pulp (palm oil) or the seeds (kernal oil), the residual EFBs lipids may have different compositions. Thus, this… Show more
“…18,37 Lauric acid, a saturated medium-chain length (C12) fatty acid, is a major component of coconut oil and palm kernel oil and is naturally found in various plant and animal fats and oils. 38 The particle average hydrodynamic diameters and zeta potentials are shown in Table 2 and their morphologies are shown in Fig. 2(e).…”
Multifunctional textile coatings were developed using biobased nanoparticles from lignin and fatty acids, achieving significant water repellency, breathability, UV-shielding, and antibacterial properties, while remaining eco-friendly and durable.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
