Characterization of the Effectiveness of Several Outranking-Based Multi-Criteria Sorting Methods

Abstract: ELECTRE TRI-C, ELECTRE TRI-nC and THESEUS are recently proposed outranking-based multi-criteria sorting methods. The effectiveness of each method is here characterized by (i) its capacity for suggesting precise and appropriate assignments, (ii) the probability of suggesting imprecise assignments, and (iii) the probability of suggesting wrong assignments. We are also interested in studying to what extent the effectiveness of the methods is influenced by the number of criteria and categories, the cardinality of … Show more

“…Sorting MCDA techniques help the decision-makers to assign a given action to an ordered category, previously defined based on their evaluation of a coherent family of criteria [30]. Notice that a sorting method is not intended to discover categories [31].…”

“…Outranking multicriteria decision-making methods have several potential disadvantages, including the assumption that the criteria are independent as well as the complexity and limited ability to handle qualitative criteria [123]. The ranking obtained with these methods can be distorted if the criteria are dependent on each other.…”

“…Several powerful computational approaches have been established in the scientific literature, with many notable scientists contributing to the discussion. These techniques include adomian decomposition method (ADM) [2][3][4], homotopy perturbation method (HPM) [5][6], homotopy analysis method (HAM) [7][8][9][10], Aboodh transform method [11][12][13][14][15], sorting method [16], Sumudu transform method (STM) [17][18][19][20], conformable Shehu homotopy perturbation method (CSHPM) [21][22], conformal q-Shehu homotopy analysis transform method (Cq-SHATM) [23][24], conformable sumudu decomposition method [25][26], conformable Laplace decomposition method [27][28], and differential transform method (DTM) [29][30][31][32][33].…”
