Abstract: The activated forms of the environmental pollutant benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P), such as benzo[a]pyrene diol epoxide (BPDE), are known to cause damage to genomic DNA and proteins. However, the impact of BPDE on ribonucleic acid (RNA) remains unclear.
