Charge transfer cross sections for energetic neutral atom data analysis

“…As the vast majority of the available data pertain to a mixture of O + ( 2 D) and O + ( 2 P) ions, parameterized cross sections are also reported for an unspecified mixture of these two types. The utility of presenting an O + ( 2 D, 2 P) mixed-state cross section may [Barnett and Reynolds, 1958;De Heer et al, 1966;Eliot, 1977;Gilbody and Hasted, 1956;Gordeev and Panov, 1964;Hoffman et al, 1982;McNeal and Clark, 1969;Moran and Wilcox, 1978;Ormrod and Michel, 1971;Rudd et al, 1983;Sheridan et al, 1979;Solovev et al, 1972, Stier andBarnett, 1956]. Note that in Figure 2c, the measurements of Ormrod and Michel [1971], Solovev et al [1972], and Sheridan et al [1979] are representative of O + beams containing an indeterminate mix of ground-and excited-state ions.…”

An important feature in these data is a pronounced dip in the total charge-transfer cross section at the projectile energy ϳ100 eV/ amu.…”
