Chemical Analysis of Groundwater and Wastewater in the Area of the Tengiz Deposit of the Atyrau Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Abstract: This article analyzes the content of the chemical composition of groundwater and wastewater of the Tengiz deposit located in the Zhyloy district of Atyrau region of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This analysis is necessary to determine the deposition of inorganic salts in oilfield equipment. The analysis shows that the content of chloride anions and magnesium cations prevails in groundwater and wastewater. Thus, the content of chloride anions exceeds the content of other anions up to 2-3 times of sulfate anions i… Show more

“…The main sources of pollution in Atyrau are oil refining and transportation facilities: Atyrau Oil Refinery, Tengizchevroil, "Atyrau Oil Company", "Embamunaigas", "Intergas-Central Asia". In addition, the city has two storage ponds of industrial discharges located on both sides of the city (the north-western side is the storage pond "Square" and the eastern side is the "Rotten Beam") [1]. All urban discharges into the storage tank are carried out practically without purification, as a result, the main source of hydrogen sulfide is formeda storage tank of 1000 hectares, in which the processes of decay of organic substancessewage, including petroleum products, are taking place [2].…”
