“…The moisture content of the fresh leaves of Cantinoa carpinifolia was 33%, and the extraction yield of the essential oil was 0.48% on a moisture‐free basis. Authors such as Sá et al obtained 77.05% moisture content when they studied the same species collected in Goiás, Brazil in March 2013, and the extraction yield was 2.0%. The differences found by the authors are justified by the edaphoclimatic factors, such as pluviometric incidence, because 2014 was the year with the driest season in Minas Gerais since the year 2000, a factor that may have contributed to the low moisture and essential oil contents of the species studied.…”

“…Sá et al evaluated the influence of seasonality on the chemical composition of the essential oil from Hyptis carpinifolia ( C carpinifolia ) and found β‐pinene (2.9%‐5.3%),(4.16%), prenopsan‐8‐ol (4.2%‐9.6%), β‐caryophyllene (4.4%‐10.0%), trans‐cadina ‐1(6),4‐diene (2.8%‐17.5%), and eucalyptol (39.6%‐61.8%), to be the main constituents, partially corroborating the results obtained in the present work. The differences in chemical composition are due to factors, such as climate, soil composition, availability of moisture, attack by pathogens, as well as the different chemotypes of the species in the synthesis of secondary metabolites, a fact described by Gobbo‐Neto & Lopes …”
