Chemical Composition of Leaves, Stem, and Roots of Peperomia pellucida (L.) Kunth

Abstract: Peperomia pellucida is a species known in the Amazon as “erva-de-jabuti” that has been used in several therapeutic applications based on folk medicine. Herein, we describe the classes, subclasses, and the main compounds of the leaves, stems, and roots from P. pellucida by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry associated with molecular networks, mirror plot on the GNPS library, and machine learning. These data show compounds that were annotated for the first t… Show more

“…The study of Nguyen et al, (2021) showed that the gum was found much iThe results of qualitative analysis of the chemical composition from the extract of P. pellucida were also similar to those reported by Sheikh et al (2013) and Gomes et al (2022), which demonstrated the presence of these substances in P. pellucida. Polyphenols and flavonoids are antioxidants that have beneficial effects on human health, curing and preventing many diseases (Tungmunnithum et al, 2018).…”

“…Hence, bioactive extracts and fractions can have their molecular profile revealed in a few weeks or months by metabolite annotation (levels 2 and 3) [21], as established in previous reports by our research group [22][23][24]. In this approach here, we describe the chemical composition and in vitro antibacterial activity against S. aureus for the ethanolic extract and its fractions from the roots of D. nitidula.…”
