Chemical Composition of RR Lyn – an Eclipsing Binary System with Am and λ Boo Type Components

Abstract: High-resolution spectroscopic observations of the eclipsing binary system RR Lyn were made using the 1.8 m telescope at the Bohuynsan Optical Astronomical Observatory in Korea. The spectral resolving power was R = 82,000, with a signal to noise ratio of S/N > 150. We found the effective temperatures and surface gravities of the primary and secondary components to be equal to Teff = 7,920 & 7,210 K and log(g) = 3.80 & 4.16, respectively. The… Show more

“…Notably, the theory of accretion from the interstellar medium has not been developed in detail. The observational results published by Böhm-Vitense ( 2006), Yushchenko et al (2015), and Jeong et al (2019) for different groups of stars and by Kim et al (2012), Kang et al (2012Kang et al ( , 2013, Jeong et al (2017Jeong et al ( , 2019, Yushchenko et al (2017a,b), and Yushchenko et al (2020) for individual stars, as well as this investigation, suppose that interstellar gas accretion should be considered for stars over a wide range of effective temperatures.…”

“…The continuum placement was made by the URAN software (Yushchenko 1997). The details of the synthetic spectra calculations and reduction procedure are similar to those described by Yushchenko et al (2015), Kang et al (2013), andJeong et al (2017).…”

“…It is to be noted that the Greenstein (1949) hypothesis was mentioned to explain the peculiar abundances in binary stars (Kang et al 2012(Kang et al , 2013Jeong et al 2017). It was shown that the correlations between relative abundances and second ionization potentials of corresponding elements were observed not only in radiative atmospheres, but also in convective atmospheres in the case of strong flux accreted from the circumstellar envelope.…”
