Chemical constituents from Nectandra cuspidata Nees – Lauraceae

Abstract: a b s t r a c tThe phytochemical study of Nectandra cuspidata led to the isolation and characterization of the new megastigmane 7-megastigmen-3b,6b,9x-triol (1), the aporphinoid alkaloids (À)-glaziovine (2) and (þ)-apoglaziovine (3), the sesquiterpene costic acid (4), polyprenols (5, 6 and 8), a-tocopherol (7) and the steroid b-sitosterol (9). The structures of the compounds were elucidated based on spectroscopic data. This is the first description of the presence of megastigmanes in Nectandra genus. All compo… Show more

“…Further, H-8 also demonstrated space interaction with H-6a (δ 3.44, dddd, J = 10.8, 6.1, 1.5, 1.5 Hz). The MeO group was placed at C-2 due to its dipolar inter-▶ , as was the one isolated from Nectandra cuspidata [21]. In contrast, the dextrorotatory isomer has been isolated from Ocotea glaziovii ([α] D + 7 (c 1.0, CHCl 3 ) [22].…”

“…The plant is not endemic to Brazil, but occurs in most states [2,7]. A phytochemical investigation of the leaf extract resulted in the isolation and characterization of megastigmane, aporphinoid alkaloids, sesquiterpenes, polyprenols and sterols [9]. Despite the high aromatic potential, there have been few studies on the chemical composition of essential oils (EOs) of Nectandra species.…”

“…Our optimal Y% results present similar values to those obtained by previous studies with Lauraceae, which applied a 5 day times exhaustive maceration. [19][20][21] Therefore, we demonstrate a substantial decrease in the extraction time from a time scale in days to just 30 minutes.…”
