“…In the event, by use of a chiral column we found tylophorine was not enantiomerically pure but a mixture of the laevo and dextrorotatory forms in the proportion 60 : 40. Apart from tylophorine, we also solved the structures of tylophorinine 11 and tylophorinidine 12 . The structure and absolute configuration of tylophorinidine has also been solved by X-ray studies 13 .…”

“…The total alkaloid fraction of T. indica from above was resolved by chromatography. The alkaloids were characterized as tylophorine (4) (12), tylophorinine (6) (13,14), demethyltylophorine (7) (15), 4methoxy-14-hydroxytylophorine (8) (16), acctyl-O-methyltylophorinidine/acetyltylophorinine (9) (14, 17), and d-septicine (10) (16,17) according to the references given in brackets. The method for the separation and characterization of tylohirsutinine (11), 13a-methyltylohirsutine (12), 13a-methyltylohirsutinidine (13), tylohirsutinidine (14), 13a-hydroxytylophorine (15), 13a-hydroxysepticine (16), isotylocrebrime (17) (17), and 14-deoxy-13a-methyltylohirsutinidine (18) from T. hirsuta has been described by us else where (18)(19)(20).…”

“…The roots along with leaves of the plant are further employed to alleviate jaundice and liver disorders (Devprakash et al 2012). Tylophorinine, a minor alkaloid, was isolated and characterized from T. asthmatica by Govindachari et al (1961). Dhiman et al (2013) isolated and characterized a novel phenanthroindolizidine alkaloid, 3-O-demethyl tylophorinidine (VI), from the leaves and stems of T. indica by utilizing various chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques.…”
