Chemical Reaction Effect on Convection in Bidispersive Porous Medium

Abstract: The object of this study is to investigate the question of convective movement of a reacting solute in a viscous incompressible occupying a plane layer in a saturated bidisperse porous material. Among the characteristics of a bidisperse porous medium are pores, called macropores, but porosity in the solid skeleton, known as microporosity, arises where there are cracks or fissures in that skeleton. In this paper, a comparison is made between the thresholds for linear instability and those obtained from a global… Show more

“…Consequently, bi-disperse porous materials provide much more materials possibilities to design man-made materials for heat transfer problems. For this reason, recently, the onset of bi-disperse convection has become an interesting topic to investigate for many researchers such as Imani et al [5], Gentile and Straughan [6], Gentile et al [7], Badday et al [8], Falsaperla et al [9] and Capone et al [10].…”

“…Penetrative convection in porous media was studied under anisotropic or double-diffusive effects in [18][19][20] and in presence of throughflow for the onset of penetrative convection [21]. Regarding dual-porosity materials, bi-disperse porous media have a large number of industrial applications (to model heat pipes and computer chips, [22]) or geophysical applications (e.g., to model stockpiled pieces of coal, [23]). As defined in [24], a bi-disperse porous medium (BDPM) is characterized by a solid matrix with an interconnected void, but the solid skeleton has cracks or fissures in it, so a BDPM is a compound of clusters of large particles that are themselves agglomerations of smaller particles.…”
