Chemical vapor deposition growth of carbon nanotube confined nickel sulfides from porous electrospun carbon nanofibers and their superior lithium storage properties

Abstract: Carbon-nanotube confined nickel sulfides grown on porous carbon nanofibers were prepared via an electrospinning-CVD method and showed superior lithium storage performance.

“…In the N 1s XPS spectrum (Figure S4b, Supporting Information), the three deconvoluted peaks located at 400.1, 403.4, and 406.9 eV can be assigned to pyridine N, pyrrolic N, and sorbed N. [ 33 ] It is also notable that the presence of pyridine type N atoms can increase the electron conduction, thus favoring the rate performance of the electrode. [ 34 ] From the above discussion, the enhanced‐compressively strained interface in N‐Pd/A‐Co(II) was successfully constructed.…”

“…The C 1s contribution located at 286.2 eV and the O 1s signal at 532.6 eV correspond to the C−O bonds in phenolic and/or ether groups [66,79] . Carboxyl/carbonyl groups can be correlated with the contribution located at 287.8 eV (C 1s signal) and 531.4 eV (O 1s signal) [80] . The contribution located at 533.8 eV of the O 1s signal can be assigned to C−O bonds in carboxylic anhydride groups.…”

“…[66,79] Carboxyl/carbonyl groups can be correlated with the contribution located at 287.8 eV (C 1s signal) and 531.4 eV (O 1s signal). [80] The contribution located at 533.8 eV of the O 1s signal can be assigned to CÀ O bonds in carboxylic anhydride groups. Additionally, the relative ratios (C 1s region, shown in parentheses) indicate the predominant existence of graphitic carbon on the surface of all samples.…”

“…The small peak at 285.5 eV might be indexed to CS bonds due to the minor sulfur contamination in the tube furnace. [ 16 ] A small shoulder peak at 283.6 eV corresponds to the NiC bond resulting from the Ni 3 C formed during the CVD process. [ 17 ] The morphologies of the bare Ni foam and CNF@Ni were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).…”
