Abstract:ChemInform Abstract In the Ce4+ oxidation of water using the Ru compound (II) as redox catalyst, an initial rapid drop in the Ce4+ concentration is observed which is found to be not associated with the water oxidation reaction. This initial Ce4+ reduction step is explained by a charging process of the redox catalyst according to the redox reaction outlined in the scheme.
