Abstract:ChemInform Abstract (Ca(HCO3)2 solution containing Mg(HCO3)2) are studied by a seeding technique. Mg is found to inhibit the growth process of calcite. The extent of the inhibition action depends on the state of supersaturation of the mixed solution at the time of the calcite seed addition and the total dissolved Mg concentration. The application of the chemical mechanistic model is more successful for analysis of the growth data than the parabolic rate law.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
