ChemInform Abstract: Drastic Decrease of the Curie Temperature in the Solid Solution GdRu_xCd_1‐x.

Abstract

Magnetic properties D 9000Drastic Decrease of the Curie Temperature in the Solid Solution GdRuxCd1-x. -Five samples of the title solid solutions with 0.05 ≤ x ≤ 0.25 are synthesized by induction-melting of the elements (argon, sealed Ta tubes, ≈1370 K, 5 min). All the GdRuxCd1-x samples crystallize with the cubic CsCl structure in space group Pm3m (powder and single crystal XRD) The cadmium-ruthenium substitution has a drastic effect on the magnetic properties. All samples order ferromagnetically, however, the Curie temperature decreases drastically from 258 K for GdCd to 63.6 K for GdRu0.20Cd0.80 with a Vegard-type behavior. -(TAPPE, F.; SCHAPPACHER, F.
