Abstract:Complexes. -The reaction represents the first example of the cobalt-catalyzed hydration of alkynes. Aromatic [cf. (II)], aliphatic [cf. (IV)], carbohydrate-and aminoacid-derived [cf. (VIII)] substrates are tolerated. Diketone (VI) is obtained from diacetylene requiring a double amount of water. The reaction can be scaled up. No reaction takes place when internal alkynes are applied. -(TACHINAMI, T.; NISHIMURA, T.; USHIMARU, R.; NOYORI, R.; NAKA*, H.; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 135 (2013) 1, 50-53, http://dx.
