ChemInform Abstract: Ln₄B₄O₁₁F₂ (Ln: Eu, Dy): New Phases Isotypic to the Fluoride Borate Gd₄B₄O₁₁F₂

Abstract

-The title compounds are prepared in a Walker-type multianvil apparatus from mixtures of Ln2O3 (Ln: Eu, Dy), LnF3, and B2O3 (5 GPa, 900°C for the Eu-compound and 8 GPa, 1000°C for the Dy compound, 20 min). Eu4B4O11F2 and Dy4B4O11F2 are isotypic with Gd4B4O11F2 and crystallize in the monoclinic space group C2/c with Z = 4 (single crystal XRD). The structures contain BO 3 groups and BO 4 tetrahedra connected via common corners. -(PITSCHEIDER, A.; ENDERS, M.; HUPPERTZ*, H.;
