ChemInform Abstract: Product Analysis of Lithium/Sulfur Dioxide Cells Discharged and Stored at High Temperature.

Abstract: 017ChemInform Abstract Chemical analysis of the discharge products of Li/SO2 cells discharged in the temp. range -20 to +90 rc C indicates that Li2S2O4 is the major product recovered in the cathode extracts of cells discharged at -20 to +50 rc C. A change in the product istribution to increased levels of S2O32-and correspondingly decreased levels of dithionite is observed at higher discharge temp., and maybe attributed to the thermal decomposition of Li2S2O4.
