ChemInform Abstract: Pyrophosphate‐Bridged Cu^II Chain Magnet: {[Na₃Cu(P₂O₇)(NO₃)] ·3H₂O}_n.

Abstract

The new title compound (III) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/m with Z = 2 (single crystal XRD). The structure contains pyrophosphate-bridged Cu II ···Cu II chains. Each Cu atom is octahedrally surrounded by four O atoms of two bridging P2O7 groups in the bis-bidentate coordination mode and two O atoms of two nitrate groups. The magnetic susceptibility data are interpreted by a spin-chain model that reveals the existence of a relatively strong antiferromagnetic coupling between neighboring Cu atoms. The angular variation of the EPR line width suggests slow diffusive spin dynamics that cannot evaluated by the existing models of line narrowing. -(SARTORIS, R. P.; SANTANA, R. C.; BAGGIO, R.
