Abstract:ChemInform Abstract The reaction between phenol (I) and 2-hexene (IIa) or 2-octene (IIb) is investigated in order to compare the reactivities of (II) with those of 1-hexene or 1-octene. The reaction is run in the presence of catalytic amounts of Al(OPh)3; the molar ratios chosen (I):(II):Al(OPh)3 vary between 2-1:1-2.5:0.3, the temp. ranges between 170 and 240 rc C. The influence of some parameters -ratio of the educts, temp. -on the product distribution is discussed in detail. The products are formed via ioni… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
