ChemInform Abstract: Reaction of Phenol with Diacetyl in the Presence of Aluminum Phenolate.

Abstract: ChemInform Abstract The reaction between phenol (I) and 2-hexene (IIa) or 2-octene (IIb) is investigated in order to compare the reactivities of (II) with those of 1-hexene or 1-octene. The reaction is run in the presence of catalytic amounts of Al(OPh)3; the molar ratios chosen (I):(II):Al(OPh)3 vary between 2-1:1-2.5:0.3, the temp. ranges between 170 and 240 rc C.
