Abstract

Reduction of Glycyrrhizic Acid. -The reduction of the potassium salt of glycyrrhizic acid (I) with NaBH4 proceeds selectively at the carboxylic groups of the glycoside residue and at the C-11 carbonyl group of the aglycone moiety to form the compound (III).
