ChemInform Abstract: Stabilization of Niobium(0) and Tantalum(0) in Heterometal Clusters Containing Silver Atoms.

Abstract: ChemInform Abstract The reactions of (I) with Ag salts of non-coordinating anions yield the clusters (III) which are characterized by X-ray analyses (both space group R3c with Z = 6).

“…The literature reports several cases of transfer reactions of the carbamato ligand. Such reactions have been used for the synthesis of transition metal derivatives such as Ti(O 2 CNR 2 )Cp 2 , magnesium and phosphorus carbamates, Mg(O 2 CNR 2 ) 2 , R = Et, i Pr, and P(O 2 CNR 2 )X(CF 3 ) 3 . , The anionic ligands are redistributed in the products and no change of oxidation state takes place …”

“…These materials were later found to be dinuclear, carboxylato-bridged compounds ( XLII ). , However, the absence of a metal−metal bonding interaction is consistent with a 16-electron configuration around each vanadium center. Carbamates have an analogous tetrabridged dinuclear structure . These dinuclear systems show reduced magnetic moments (1.4−1.8 μ B per V atom) because of antiferromagnetic coupling between the two spin triplet metal centers. , Dinuclear tetrathiolato-bridged compounds, [CpV(μ-SR) 2 ] 2 , also have antiferromagnetically coupled S = 1 metal centers.…”

“…The alternative reaction used magnesium bromide as the Mg 2+ source, reacting it with diethylamine and carbon dioxide in a one-pot preparation yielding 1 . This alternative reaction is directly analogous to that used by Calderazzo et al in the preparation of the transition metal derivatives. , A metathesis method was previously employed in the preparation of the compositionally related complex Mg( i -pr 2 NCO 2 ) 2 , which was not structurally characterized.…”
