Abstract:Synthesis of 2,5-Disubstituted-1,4-benzoquinone Derivatives as Potential Antimicrobial and Cytotoxic Agents.-A number of benzoquinone derivatives (V) are prepared and evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial and cytotoxic activity. The most potent antimicrobial compound is (Vb), which is 2 to 4 times more active than the antimicrobial drug sulfathiazole. Compound (Vc) possesses significant cytotoxicity. -(HASSAN, MOHAMAD A.; MASLAT, AHMED O.; ABUSSAUD, MAHMUD; AHMED, IBRAHIM CH.; ALKOFAHI, AHMAD S.; Arch.
