Abstract:Synthesis of the Enantiomers of the Hypolipidaemic Agent 2-(4-(2,2-Dichlorocyclopropyl)phenoxy)-2-methylpropanoic Acid (Ciprofibrate).-The synthesis of the enantiomers of the title compound (IV), a potent, long-acting hypolipidaemic agent, in 99% e.e. is achieved via resolution of racemic (I) using (+)-or (-)-tartaric acid. Conversion of the resolved cyclopropylaniline into the chiral phenol (II) proceeds without racemization. -(BAXTER, M. P.; CARR, G.; ELLAMES, G. J.; HERBERT, J. M.; MAN-SOUR, G. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
