“…3 However, until now the triterpene glycosides of this plant have not been examined. In a continuation of our study regarding the chemical constituents of plant species that are used in folk medicine in the Democratic Republic of Congo, [4][5][6] we herein describe the structural characterisation of eleven pentacyclic triterpene glycosides resulting from the acetylation of a mixture of triterpene glycosides isolated from Combretum psidioides. On the basis of spectroscopic data the acetylated compounds were characterised as genuine acetates or as acetylation artifacts derived from eight known oleanane and ursane triterpene glucosides : arjunglucoside I (4), 7 quadranoside III (6), 8 arjunetin (9), 9 nigaichigoside F1 (11), 10 combreglucoside (13), 11 chebuloside II (15), 12 trachelosperoside E-1 (17), 13 and trachelosperoside B-1 (19)…”
