Abstract:Organofunctional silanes are hybrid materials of silanes having attracted greater attention since the last decade owing to its versatile properties and wide range of applications. In this review, we have summarized the types of organosilanes (RnSiX4-n), their reactions, and applications. Organosilanes usually have two reactive groups, organofunctional groups and hydrolyzable alkoxy groups, which undergo hydrolysis and condensation. Silanols (Si-OH) and siloxane (Si-O-Si) structures are formed by hydrolysis and… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
