Chemistry of Phosphorus Ylides. Part 27. Metal Complexes of 4-hydroxyquinaldine, its Mannich Base and Phosphonium Ylide

Abstract: The reaction of Hg 2+ , Cd 2+ , Co 2+ , and Ni 2+ ions with 1 mol of the ligands 2-methylquinoline-4-ol, 3[(diethylamino)methyl]-2-methylquinoline-4-ol, and methyl-3-(4-hyrdoxy-2-methylquinoline-3-yl)-2-(triphenylphosphoranylidene)propanoate, has been investigated to give the corresponding 1 : 1 metal:ligand complexes. Reaction of 2 mol of the ligand gave the corresponding 1 : 2 metal:ligand complexes. The coordination takes place only through the quinoline nitrogen atom. The spectroscopic and the physicochemi… Show more

“…Based on these considerations and on continuation of our work on active phosphacumulenes and phosphallene , a series of new chromenone derivatives of antitumor activity have been synthesized. Therefore, the reaction of the active nucleophilic phosphacumulene, ( N ‐phenyliminovinylidene)triphenylphosphorane ( 2a ) with the bifunctional compound 4‐azido‐2‐oxo‐2 H ‐chromene‐3‐carbaldehyde ( 1 ), was studied.…”

“…Molecular weight determinations (MS) and spectroscopic results were consistent with the assigned structures of compounds 14a and 14b. The IR spectrum of the phosphorane (14a) (KBr, cm -1 ) revealed the absence of absorption band for (C=N) group of hydrazone (13) and showed the presence of strong absorption bands at ν =3257(NH), 1702 (C=O), 1625 (C=N, ylide), and 1448 cm -1 (P-Phenyl …”

“…The 1 H NMR spectra were recorded in deuterated CDCl 3 or DMSO on JEOL JNM-EX 270 (at 270 MHz) and /or JEOL 500 AS (at 500 MHz) Spectrometer using TMS as an internal reference. 13 C NMR spectra were recorded on JEOL500 AS (at 125 MHz). 31 P NMR spectra were run on the same spectrometer using H 3 PO 4 (85%) as an external reference.…”

“…As a continuation of our investigations into the synthesis of new heterocyclic compounds using active phosphacumulenes and phosphallene, [23][24][25][26][27][28] 4azidochromen-2-one 1 was selected for the synthesis of the new triazolo-coumarin derivatives.…”
