Chemomechanical preparation influences the microbial community and the levels of LPS, LTA and cytokines in combined endodontic‐periodontal lesions: A clinical study

Abstract: Background This study was conducted to compare the microbiomes, the levels of lipopolysaccharides (LPS), lipoteichoic acid (LTA), and cytokines (interleukin [IL]‐1β and tumor necrosis factor‐alpha [TNF‐α]), before and after chemomechanical preparation (CMP) of the root canals (RC) and their associated periodontal pockets (PP) in teeth with combined EPL. Materials Samples were taken from 10 RC and PP, before and after CMP. The microbiomes (next‐generation sequencing, V3‐V4 hypervariable region of the 16S rRNA g… Show more

“…Furthermore, retrospective studies do not comment on the influence of periodontal status either, perhaps as it has no obvious effect or because it was not the focus of the study (Kunert et al, 2015; Linsuwanont et al, 2017). Recent research has highlighted the presence of raised inflammatory cytokines in the pulp tissue of patients with advanced periodontal disease (Gomes et al, 2022), so it is ostensibly possible, but as yet untested that periodontal disease may influence the outcome of pulpotomy.…”

“…Upper respiratory infections, intestinal infections, and renal calculi are all treated with Ocimum sanctum Linn [ 19 ]. One of the most effective methods for disinfecting the canals and controlling pain is to place biocompatible drugs that have either a potent antibacterial component or an anti-inflammatory component, or both, into the root canals [ 20 ]. In this present study both the experimental groups had higher antioxidant activity than the control group based on DPPH and Nitric oxide assays.…”

“…These and other basic studies on the interactions between the immune system and bone following pulpal infections have been important in establishing the field of osteoimmunology. These basic studies have provided a rationale of clinical research on IL-1/IL-1 signaling in AP and foundation for interpreting their outcomes (16)(17)(18)(19)(20)(21)(22).…”
