Chemometric and Experimental Investigations of Organogelation Based on β-Cyclodextrin

Abstract: The evaluation of PEG as a gelation solvent for an organogel based on β-cyclodextrin (β-CyD) was investigated using principal component analysis (PCA). The test tube tilting method was performed to examine the gel formation experimentally. The important descriptors used in the PCA included the Hansen partial solubility parameters. LogP may be able to be used as an additional descriptor for this system. According to PCA analysis, PEG was in a cluster of gelation solvents. Subsequently, various PEG liquid state … Show more

“…There is only one example of gels composed of the PEG and CD for the diclofenac delivery [146]. The gels were prepared with a concentration of 0.1 M β-CD and 0.54 M K 2 CO 3 in PEG400, respectively [160]. The occurrence of the gelation was ascribed to the formation of PPRXs supramolecular structure.…”

“…The appropriate ratio of β-CD and K 2 CO 3 in PEG to form a gel has been investigated and reported elsewhere [15]. Accordingly, the concentrations of β-CD and K 2 CO 3 that were used in this study were 0.1 M and 0.54 M, respectively.…”

“…Consequently, the stress of 1 Pa that lies within the LVR was employed in all measurements. According to the test tube tilting method (reported elsewhere) [15], we detected two gel types for these samples. One type of the gel (Gel L ) was formed at a low temperature (below 50°C) and the other (Gel H ) was formed at a higher temperature (above 70°C).…”
