Chicken skin-derived collagen peptides chelated zinc promotes zinc absorption and represses tumor growth and invasion in vivo by suppressing autophagy

Abstract: To improve the utilization value of chicken by-products, we utilized the method of step-by-step hydrolysis with bromelain and flavourzyme to prepare low molecular weight chicken skin collagen peptides (CCP) (<5 kDa) and characterized the amino acids composition of the CCP. Then, we prepared novel CCP-chelated zinc (CCP–Zn) by chelating the CCP with ZnSO4. We found that the bioavailability of CCP–Zn is higher than ZnSO4. Besides, CCP, ZnSO4, or CCP–Zn effectively repressed the tumor growth, invasion, and… Show more

“…Its antioxidant activity was either preserved or boosted when oyster protein hydrolysate was chelated with zinc 95 . Apart from that, peptide zinc chelate also has biological activities such as enhancing anticancer cell proliferation 96 and suppressing autophagy to prevent in vivo tumor growth and invasion, 97 and so forth. The number of zinc‐chelating peptides that are commercially available is small because much of their manufacture and analysis are still being done in laboratories.…”

“…It explains why oxidative stress is detrimental to human health. When oxidative stress occurs, the balance of the redox system is damaged, resulting in the accumulation of a large number of intracellular oxidation products, which may be associated with accelerated aging, neurodegeneration, inflammation, tumor, diabetes, and other diseases [3][4][5][6][7].…”
