“…Intriguingly, osthole could dose‐dependently counteract the inhibition of ethanol on the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs. In addition, osthole could dose‐dependently abolish the inhibition of ethanol on β‐catenin expression to augment osteogenesis, in line with previous reports . In vivo, typical pathological changes of hip osteonecrosis were observed by micro‐CT scanning and H & E staining in the ethanol group, whereas only mild osteonecrosis was presented in the animal with supplementary osthole administration.…”

“…Almost two-thirds of the world’s population consume tea every day and black tea comprises approximately 80% of all tea consumed ( Huang et al, 2009 ; Nie et al, 2014 ; Lin et al, 2017 ). An epidemiological studies suggested that postmenopausal women who drank tea had higher BMD measurements ( Hegarty et al, 2000 ; Nash and Ward, 2016 ).…”

“…Poncirin is a flavonoid obtained from the fruit of Poncirus trifoliata. It is widely explored antiosteoporotic drug involved in regulation OPG/RANKL ratio, extracellular-signal-regulated kinase/c-Jun N terminal kinase/mitogen-activated protein kinase (ERK/JNK/MAPK), estrogen receptor (ER), bone morphogenetic protein (BMP), transforming growth factor (TGF)-β, Wnt/β-catenin, and Notch signaling pathways ( Lin et al, 2017 ). Poncirin when tested in GC induced mice revealed that treatment resulted in enhancement of OC, OPG, mineral nodule formation and mRNA expression and decrease in CTX serum level.…”
