Chiral derivatives of covalent organic framework TpBD (NH2)2 used as stationary phases in gas chromatography

Abstract: Chiral covalent organic framework materials have many excellent properties, which have received much attention in the field of separation. Synthesized the covalent organic framework COF‐TpBD (NH2)2 modified, respectively, by L‐valine trifluoroacetyl derivative, L‐hydroxyproline, and (1S)‐(+)‐10‐camphorsulfonyl chloride, three capillary columns of chiral covalent organic framework materials were obtained for gas chromatography. Those columns are able to separate some chiral compounds, positional isomers, n‐alka… Show more

“…Like HPLC, the development of novel CSPs is also the main direction of chiral GC separation in the last two years. Functional COFs, hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs), and POCs were devoted as CSPs for GC. The excellent thermal stability and porosity make COFs promising as GC CSPs. Guo et al developed a “thiol–ene” click approach to prepare an S-N-(2-mercaptoethyl)-2-phenylpropanamide functionalized COF (CTzDva) .…”

“…In addition, a number of functionalized CCOFs also enriched the "toolbox" of chiral GC. 90,91 Compared with COFs and MOFs, POCs are easily soluble in common solvents and have higher dispersion, enabling them to be directly coated on the inner wall of capillary columns. Yuan's group reports the star product available for chiral GC, named POC (CC3-R).…”

“…CTzDva had high thermal stability and good porosity and based on the CTzDva gas capillary column showed good separation of benzene/cyclohexane and racemates (citronellaldehyde and anisone). In addition, a number of functionalized CCOFs also enriched the “toolbox” of chiral GC. , …”

“…The advantages of high chemical stability, adjustable pore size, and easy chemical modification make COFs promising as new stationary phases for a variety of chromatographic separation techniques, such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), and capillary electrochromatography (CEC). GC with the characteristics of fast analysis and simple operation has been widely used in diverse fields. Since the first COF-coated capillary column was reported for GC separation of alkanes, cyclohexane, benzene, pinene, and alcohols, various framework structures of COFs have been explored to fabricate GC columns with good separation performance. Further exploration of the COF-based GC stationary phases with high separation performance is still challenging.…”

“…The successful fabrication of a COF open-tubular capillary column is an important prerequisite for further application of COFs in GC separation. Until now, three methods, including “in situ growth”, ,, “dynamic coating” , , and “silane reagent assisted-chemical bonding”, have been developed to fabricate COF open-tubular capillary columns. However, the inherent characteristics of these methods make them not always effective.…”
