Chiral separation using cyclodextrins as mobile phase additives in open‐tubular liquid chromatography with a pseudophase coating

Abstract: The chiral separation of various analytes (dichlorprop, mecoprop, ibuprofen, and ketoprofen) was demonstrated with different cyclodextrins as mobile phase additives in open-tubular liquid chromatography using a stationary pseudophase semipermanent coating. The stable coating was prepared by a successive multiple ionic layer approach using poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride), polystyrene sulfonate, and didodecyldimethyl ammonium bromide. Increasing concentrations (0-0.2 mM) of various native and derivatized … Show more

“…The functionalized column was also applied to evaluate the tryptic digest of BSA, containing a mixture of numerous peptides in a complex matrix. To have a basis for comparison of the separation performance, a normal silica capillary was modified with poly(diallyldimethylammonium) chloride/polystyrene sulfonate (PDDA-PSS) [ 59 ] and tested under the same condition. PSS would create a negatively charged surface as the partial negative charged surface resulted from the unbonded silanol groups in an SNS-OTS-coated capillary.…”

“…CD [ 34 , 35 , 100 ] is the most commonly used polysaccharide material for chiral separations and has appeared frequently. It is either a component of a mixed SP or a chiral selective agent used for synergistic separations.…”

“…In previously published work for the preparation of OT columns using polystyrene sulfonate (PSS) as a stationary phase, a dynamic coating (layer-by-layer assembly) procedure was usually used [9,[20][21]. Although ease of preparation is the advantage but the major disadvantage is that the coating gets washed away over time.…”
